Canasta Scorepad

Problem
Partnership Canasta runs to 5,000 points over many hands, and keeping score on paper means one person doing arithmetic, remembering each team’s opening minimum, and settling rules questions from memory.
Built
A two-team score pad that stays in sync on every phone at the table through a four-letter game code. It tracks each team’s opening requirement as scores change, keeps a shared leaderboard, and includes a plain-language rules reference.
Outcome

Problem
Patients arrive at appointments without a working understanding of the drug options in front of them, so the visit is spent on orientation rather than on the decision itself.
Built
Pre-appointment patient education that presents neutral, non-promotional comparisons of drug options, so patients walk in already informed and ready to weigh tradeoffs with their clinician.
Outcome
Concrete result goes here — adoption, comprehension lift, clinician time saved, pilot sites.Need metric

02 — Experience

Six years building at Illumina

From systems engineering to senior product management, across the cloud platform and the instruments it runs on.

Illumina

San Diego, CA · 2020–2026

Global leader in next-generation DNA sequencing and array tools and technologies. I joined as a systems engineer and left as a senior technical product manager owning the cloud run planning portfolio.

  1. 2023 — 2026

    Senior Software Technical Product Manager

    • Expanded the Illumina cloud ecosystem’s total addressable market by 400% by diversifying the run planning portfolio menu to capture high-growth application segments in clinical oncology (TSO) and proteomics (SomaSeq).
    • Drove the business case and product vision for a new integrated NGS lab management platform, identifying a multi-million dollar product gap and defining a “working backwards” PRFAQ proposal that secured executive buy-in for a major product investment.
    • Ensured delivery timelines for an upcoming clinical platform by defining cross-functional roadmaps, managing development and risks, and serving as software representative on the company-wide project core team.
    • Coordinated end-to-end product roadmaps and requirements as the central interface between Cloud and Instrument engineering teams, unifying timelines to advance cross-functional feature delivery by three months.
    • Orchestrated the migration of two products from Waterfall to an Agile Product Increment approach, expediting time to market and improving collaboration.
    • Mentored two junior TPMs on product requirement documentation and established a new inter-departmental standard, cutting feature spec review time by 50%.
  2. 2021 — 2023

    Software Technical Product Manager 2

    • Led cross-functional teams to expedite customer time to answer by automating secondary analysis launch for the NovaSeq X, delivering a high-impact feature now leveraged by more than five additional platforms.
    • Spearheaded discovery and development of the multi-analysis run planning interface, a pivotal value proposition for the NovaSeq X launch, by enabling complex sequencing configurations.
    • Drove FDA approval of TruSight Oncology Comprehensive software by owning and authoring software risk and requirements documentation in an IVD-compliant quality system.
  3. 2020 — 2021

    Software Systems Engineer 1

    • Doubled the adoption rate of cloud-based microarray analysis by collaborating with research, UX, and marketing stakeholders to launch an intuitive interface with integrated kickoff automation.
    • Accelerated NovaSeq X software deployment by porting cloud run management capabilities directly onto the instrument interface.
